Power:The Gift of the Holy Spirit
July 28, 2019 | Aaron Adams
As the disciples grappled with the fact that they didn't completely know what exactly was going to happen next, just that Jesus was leaving, and things were going to be drastically different, they felt inadequate. I imagine the disciples looked back on their time with Jesus and wished they would have asked more questions and paid just a little more attention to the things Jesus said and did. I imagine the disciples were simply wishing for more time.
That feeling of inadequacy can feel crippling if not paralyzing. When we feel inadequate it becomes hard to put one foot in front of the other and to take one day at a time. Jesus had been preparing his disciples to be world changers. Could they do it by their own power? Absolutely not. Yet, through the power of the Holy Spirit and the obedience of the disciples who often felt inadequate, the church was born, and it began to change lives and communities in incredible ways.
When we're obedient to the Lord. The Holy Spirit has the ability to change us in ways we never could have imagined.
