In his book Liberating Grace, pastor and author Tony Evans shares about a time he was in an airport rushing to catch a plane. He was sweating and puffing from trying to get to his gate on time. He looked to his right and saw a man walking half as fast as he was, but going faster. The man was walking on a moving sidewalk.
When we walk in the Spirit, he comes underneath us and carries us along. We're still walking, but we walk dependent on him.
Life with the Holy Spirit is a life walk dependent on Him. Will you give the details of your life to the Holy Spirit’s leadership? The gift of God through Jesus is a new identity and a new life purpose. We receive this new identity as part of God’s grace. As a double blessing we receive God’s gift of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is a gift of a “co-mission” for life. Be filled with the Holy Spirit!
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. Ephesians 5:18-21 (NASB)
