MCCC - Gifted to Serve

Kids need chores to grow into mature and loving adults. Doing chores in the family boosts self-esteem. What is true of the family on earth finds its origins in heaven. When we are God’s children, He assigns us family chores. He gives us opportunities to release the Spiritual gifts He provides by grace to bless others. That is what 1 Corinthians 12:7 plainly says…

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:7 NIV

Every member of the church of Jesus. Every Jesus follower. Every disciple is given the manifestation of the Spirit. Manifestation means evidence, demonstration, expression. For every Jesus follower, it refers to God’s working in you. The power of God in action unique to you. That supernatural work is given not for personal edification or promotion. It is given for the common good. It is given so that everyone in the family of faith will be blessed. Whether you are handing out bulletins, singing worship songs, praying for those on the list, rebuilding houses in Houston, giving counsel to a friend, teaching your child to pray - when you serve by the power of God it is for the benefit of others. To say it plainly if we are Jesus followers, God gifts us to serve!

God’s "Plan A" for our growth is for us to take up our chores in the family. Chores are given according to God’s wisdom and grace. When we fulfill our calling it releases the power of God’s Spirit in our lives and into the world. God wants you, and He knows everything about you, He wants you to be humble, to be committed and to be faithful. God gifts us to serve.
