Grace Inspires Grace
September 18, 2019 | Timothy Peace
Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Jesus issues more than a mere command when He says to “love one another.” He says that the evidence of His love residing in His followers will be in their love for one another. We don’t often consider that what God does for us is both a roadmap for how we ought to live and the inspiration to do likewise. God’s commands for His people are always rooted in His person and His activity. The call to be Holy isn’t just a call to be good; instead, it is a call to be Holy because God is Holy first. We love because He first loved us. We desire holiness because He is holy. We give grace because we received grace from Him. We serve a God that goes first, shows us the way, and empowers us to walk His walk with Him.
